"The hearing on the state Oil Conservation Division's new rules to govern oil and gas drilling in Santa Fe County was extended for the second time Thursday.
The hearing centers on two new rules. One would require oil and gas operators to submit more detailed exploration plans than previously required. The other would require more extensive public notice on applications for permits to drill in Santa Fe County and in parts of the Galisteo Basin that extend into Sandoval and San Miguel counties.
The hearing began Dec. 11 and was originally scheduled to last one day. But witness testimony and cross examination of those witnesses by Independent Petroleum Association director Karin Foster have taken longer than anticipated.
Testimony still was not completed by the end of the day Thursday, the second day allocated for the hearing. The hearing will resume at 9 a.m. Jan. 15 in Porter Hall in the Wendell Chino Building, 1220 S. St. Francis Drive."
